DEVO/Cannondale
The Developmental Escape Velocity Organization (DEVO) is Vancouver’s oldest and most successful youth cycling program. Founded in 1999, it has helped launch the careers of some of Canada’s top cyclists, while introducing hundreds of children to the sport of cycling across 4 endurance disciplines: road, XC mountain bike, cyclocross and track.
The program has grown into one of Canada’s premiere youth development cycling programs. Starting at age 10, DEVO serves a fundamental role in rider education, providing a positive and fun team atmosphere for riders to develop not only bike skills and fitness, but also the mental skills and abilities to persevere in life.
Headed by retired Canadian National team cyclist Tim Sherstobitoff, this program follows Vision 2020, a comprehensive and sustainable development model whose primary goal is to “provide a structured system of developmentally appropriate coaching and support for endurance discipline cyclist age 10-18.”
